The ipad is brilliant

On the iPad with the foreflight app you can have live GPS overlaid upon VFR charts and then have live weather in the mix too.
This I'd going to be a well used piece of kit for me. It even has the fuel prices at each of the local airports......

So a couple of things I have to share

Today I got myself my shiny nearly new iPad, this is gods gift to teenage spotty geeks who love gadgets and pilots, who also love gadgets. On a serious note, it is a god send. The App Foreflight is nothing short of genius, so many maps, pieces of info, taxi ways, frequencies, live GPS, weather, all on one screen, and a beautiful HD screen it is too. Simply amazing. Ontop of that I'll be able to watch Oprah when I am hour building.
No.2 on the sharing list is a blog I have been reading for about a year which is awesome for us pilots, http://sulako.blogspot.com/
Mr Sulako is a pilot and Ops manager of a canadian private jet company and he uploads every day or 2 some of the best aviation videos I have seen, definitely worth checking out even if you don't fly.
No.3 The studying is going along steadily, I am onto Operational procedures which to me feels like a money making exam for the CAA so that they can get 80 quid out of me, as the subject matter is a melange of Air Law, flight planning and AGK. But hey ho, we are here to serve the mighty CAA masters at Gatwick, so study it I shall.

PS going to start to try to blog from my iPad, yes, did I mention that I have just got one ?

The second phase of study is going really well so I am buying myself a present

The second phase is going really well so I am buying myself a present. I can't resist any longer, the adverts are everywhere and I have now seen one in action, tomorrow I am getting myself an iPad 3G.
The new aviation apps are amazing, along with electronic flight logs, log books and the fact they are all together awesome have broken through my sensible barriers and I'm off shopping.
I am not sure if Foreflight is available in europe but I have just seen an online demo of it, and its the straw thats broken the camel's and the bank manager's back.
I'll report in when I have it in my naughty fingers.........

London's calling..... London's calling.....
